Mariyam Manikufaanu Son of Ibrahim Raha and Aishath Manikufaanu. Born S. Gan Died before 1948 S. Hithadhoo Kudhu Raha ge Mariyan Manukaanu. She died in a tragic accident when the people of Gan were living in Maamendhoo area of Hithadhoo. Gan had been been used as a secret base known as Port T by British RAF during the World War II. The British had left Gan in 1946, but its natives had to endure two more years of "exile" in Maamendhoo before they had been allowed to return in 1948. She went to Gan to collect firewood for cooking for the feast to celebrate her eldest daughter, Fathumath Manikfaanu's "Libaas Levvun", who also took the trip with her mother. On the return trip the Dhoni was capsized near the reef of Maamedhoo Lagoon drowning both. Rescuers found the bodies of both the mother and daughter hugging each other.
